World Nutella Day

I love putting it on fresh white bread, banana, ice cream or on anything else I can get me hands on. I sometimes just eat it straight out of the jar and before I know it, the whole thing is empty. This stuff is so awesome, it can make a brick taste good!
You can imagine how stoked I was to find out about World Nutella Day. This was my chance to celebrate my excitement for Nutella. All Nutella lovers of the world would be united and we would all join hands and sing in harmony: “Joy to the world, the Nutella is come!”
World peace be upon us! AOL would stop sending us crap! John Brown would win the White Rappers Show! The OC would return on TV! Global Warming would be solved! Borat would win an Oscar! Bas Rutten would become the President of USA! Nike would get the fuck out of skateboarding! And Emos would finally stop crying.
To start the celebrations I ran to the store for some Nutella and whadayaknow…

Oh! VERGOGNA–shame, shame on Safeway! (Is that a Safeway price label I spotted? Used to work there to earn money to come live in Italy… :-)) Anyhoo, this is just WRONG, I think you should write a letter to corporate. If it’s any consolation, all I could find at my store, which is in Rome after all, were little teeny tiny 30 gram snack packs. I think World Nutella Day must have increased demand worldwide and the suppliers weren’t ready for it!

Shelley: Very sharp eye. Actually it’s at Pavilions, which is part of Safeway Inc. And it’s pretty crazy that they are out of stock. Not a lot of people buy Nutella, specially not with a $4.15 price tag. Sometimes when it’s on sale (two for $5) it moves a little faster. But they should always have it in stock! BOYCOTT PAVILIONS!

I decided to wait until my Rome trip to buy my Nutella supply for the year. I didn’t know until recently that USA version is different from the European/Caribbean version.

Yes the U.S. version has more chocolate I think. One of the Nutella Day participants (not sure if she was on Shelley’s or Sara’s roundup, get into the thick of it.
